Crossbreed: A History
The Idea Behind Crossbreed
CrossBreed is the idea that you can mix a bunch of pub players from multiple sources. Whether it be from different clans or teams, or just players with no affiliation at all, and still prove to be a viable team, and a force to be reckoned with on any given day.
CrossBreed is an animal that is forever changing and evolving, and is getting stronger each day. The main focus of the team is to have fun, drink some beer with friends and play some matches every couple of nights. All of the players inside the walls of xBr know each other, and the team takes membership very seriously. Players only become a member by invite from leadership. It has been this way from the start, and it will continue to be this way for the duration of the team.
CrossBreed is not a clan and it plays everywhere. Players you see with the |xBr| tag behind their name do so because they are a proud member. The tag goes behind, because here, the player comes first.
The Story of xBr
Team Crossbreed was formed in October 2008 as a competitive Day of Defeat: Source team. The initial team consisted of two members each from Heavy Hitters (Intelkiller and z3r0ko0l), Pub Playin' Killas (Coma and Zamecca), and the Church of Norris (Koblentz and Smash). The team quickly picked up players from all three communities and had a dozen members by the time CAL season 10 started.
Crossbreed practiced vigorously throughout CAL 10, but ended the season with an unspectacular record.
Soon after CAL 10 ended, the CAL league was disbanded for all games, and Crossbreed joined the SunLit Day of Defeat League Lower Division for season 17. The team went 5-2 in the regular season, but was knocked out in the semifinals by held hostile.
While SLDL 17 was in progress, Crossbreed also briefly played in the ESL America DoD Source ladder.
Crossbreed stayed with SLDL for season 18. The team finished with a 4-3 record. Crossbreed defeated Team Coleman during the quarterfinals and Iron and Steel during the semifinals before being defeated by sv_ in the final battle for the Lower Division title.
To date, Crossbreed has played over 120 matches and scrimmages in Day of Defeat: Source and will continue to play as long as there is competition out there.
